Food at the Festival

Jump To:

Our hosts at the Howard County Fairgrounds provide a wide variety of fair-style food concession booths throughout the grounds. From ribbon chips to ice cream, gyros to cotton candy, there is plenty to snack on.

There are also food booths throughout the grounds serving mouth-watering lamb dishes, from lamburgers and leg of lamb sandwiches to gyros and lamb sausages. For a veggie-friendly option, check out Artichoke French!

If you’ve never tasted lamb before, stop by the Frederick County Sheep Breeders Association’s Lamb Tasting Stand to try some  lamb sausage and sweet & sour lamb meatballs made from farm-fresh, Frederick County lamb. They will be on the south side of Midway Blvd, outside of Barns 5 and 6, from 10-1 each day. They will also have $1.00 off coupons good for American Lamb sandwiches at participating vendors.

Looking for a sit-down meal? We have the Saturday Shepherds Feast and Sunday Breakfast Buffet. Pre-registration is required. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door on a first come, first served basis.

If you are shopping for food to take home with you, be sure and visit the Home Arts Building. There you will find Fresh Maryland Lamb — primal cuts, leg of lamb, leg steaks, loin chops, rack of lamb, lamb patties, lamb sausage — as well as sheep’s milk cheese, goat’s milk cheese and local honey. Our Festival Farm Market outdoors near the main gate returns this year, featuring local pasture raised lamb cuts and other edible goodies. This year we are adding entertainment, and cooking demonstrations, too! Bring your cooler and become part of the farm-to-fork (or pasture-to-plate) movement!
