Sheep Shearing Demonstrations

Saturday - 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm
Sunday - 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm

Stage outside Main Exhibition Hall

Our shearer this year is a young shepherdess from Carroll County, Emily Chamelin. Like so many shepherds Emily got her start in 4-H, beginning by raising orphan lambs.

Eventually, unable to find a shearer, she went to the Maryland Sheep Shearing school and a new career was born. While raising a small flock of Leicester Longwools and Border Leicesters, she manages to shear several hundred sheep, angora goats and llamas every year. In addition, Emily is a new mother, works a “real job” and attends school.

There will be a general discussion of sheep, wool and sheep handling.
Please drop by and enjoy the show.
