FL03 Needle-Felted Sculpture with Jill Newman

Unleash your creativity and the versatility of needle-felting to create an original wool sculpture. Students will build on their existing needle-felting skills to learn advanced and alternative methods for achieving desired shapes, firmness, and textures. Come learn how wool, like your imagination, has no limits! Proficiency Level: Intermediate and advanced. Bring to Class: Optional: photos or drawings (or pencil and paper) for inspiration; also optional (if you already own them) needles and foam pad.
Class Fee: $100. Materials Fee: $10-$25 for wool only, depending on how much is used; plus an additional $15 if you want to purchase needles, foam pad, and felting kit to keep.
Jill Newman is a fiber artist who creates original felted wool jewelry and abstract art using both needle felting and wet felting techniques. She enjoys teaching and sharing her love of felting and mixed media in the Washington, DC area. Jill is a resident artist at Artists & Makers 2 in Rockville, Maryland, where she offers classes and parties at Zazzy Peacock Studios. Jill also exhibits and demonstrates at various local craft shows, galleries, and juried exhibitions, including the 2017 and 2015 Creative Crafts Council Biennial Exhibitions, the 2017 Celebration of Textiles at the GW Textile Museum, and Fiber National 2016 at the Workhouse Arts Center.
