FL06 Needle Felted Cupcake with Jill Newman

Make a fun and colorful needle felted cupcake entirely out of wool. Your creation can be used for decoration or as a pin cushion. Students will learn the basics of needle felting, including how to form shapes and create a smooth solid felted surface with wool, as well as how to add precise details and textures. Intermediate students will learn ways to improve their technique. Proficiency Level: Beginner to intermediate. Bring to Class: Optional: photos or drawings (or pencil and paper) for inspiration; also optional: needles and foam pad.
Class Fee: $50. Materials Fee: $10 for wool only or $25 for wool, needles, foam pad, and felting kit to keep.
Jill Newman is a fiber artist who creates original felted wool jewelry and abstract art using both needle felting and wet felting techniques. She enjoys teaching and sharing her love of felting and mixed media in the Washington, DC area. Jill is a resident artist at Artists & Makers 2 in Rockville, Maryland, where she offers classes and parties at Zazzy Peacock Studios. Jill also exhibits and demonstrates at various local craft shows, galleries, and juried exhibitions, including the 2017 and 2015 Creative Crafts Council Biennial Exhibitions, the 2017 Celebration of Textiles at the GW Textile Museum, and Fiber National 2016 at the Workhouse Arts Center.
