Learn more about the different sheep breeds and what makes them stand out from each other in terms of productivity and usability. You will also learn the difference between long wools, medium wools, fine wools, and primitive breeds and how each of their unique characteristics suits a variety of end uses.
Bridget Brown, of Bridget’s Farm Cart and Head Spring Fiber Mill, is a full-time shepherd and seasoned artist. She spins, dyes, felts, weaves and depicts her farm life with a variety of mediums (including wool!). With a flock of 70 wool sheep of different breeds and a fiber mill, Bridget has developed many creative ways to use the wool from all her various sheep. Bridget is also chair of the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival Fleece Sale.
