About Us

The Maine Top Mill is a creative atelier run by a father & daughter team of Fiber Design Imagineers. Erin designs all of the blends, combining her skills as a scientist & fiber artist. Bob puts his mechanical expertise into practice to help make her dreams a reality. Our goal is to fulfill the dreams of fiber artists by providing the highest quality tops, top blends and worsted yarns that are alive with possibilities.

Our mill encompasses the best of both commercial processing and an old world atelier by merging the capabilities, specialization and quality that commercial textile machinery can produce with individual attention and an uncompromising focus on producing the highest quality worsted fiber products of master artists.

Our rambouillet & Chiri Cloud 80’s tops are made at our mill here in Maine, where we also do all our blending. Our yarns are spun at American mills. Its our joy & privilege to show the quality & innovation of American made products to you. You can really feel the difference with our tops that spin themselves & yarns that are alive with possibilities.

All our in house products serve as examples of our capabilities. We can also make custom top blends & yarns with a 2-3lb minimum.

If there is a product that is currently listed as out of stock or no longer listed on our website, please let us know. I had to archive a lot of out of stock products to speed up the website. The only products that are permanently out of stock are the cashmere top and any hand dyed top or yarn that we’ve sold out of. If you’re a fan of the gotland/rose or rambouillet/angora, I’m currently staring at more that’s just waiting to be blended.
