As one to the largest sheep and wool events in the country, the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival attracts approximately 20,000 visitors over two days and offers a unique advertising opportunity. There are 3 main advertising opportunities – our catalog, our website, and through our sponsorship program.

Catalog Advertisements

The Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival catalog contains nearly 200 pages of information about the specific workshops, events, demonstrations, displays, shows, auctions, and competitions at the Festival. Also included are advertisements from local and national companies pertaining to fiber arts or sheep. 3,000 catalogs are printed and distributed each year. They are retained by many Festival attendees as a resource and reference throughout the year. Since advertisers are indexed in the back, a catalog ad is a great way for customers to easily find you again and again.

Web Advertisements

Web advertising provides year-round exposure to thousands for as little as $125. In addition to being displayed on our Advertisers page, a thumbnail of your ad will be featured in a rotation on the bottom of each page of the website. Clicking on the thumbnail will take the viewer to a full-sized version, which links directly to your web site. Web ads run from March through the following February/March to allow us time to change the site over for the next Festival. They can be purchased year-round.

Sponsorships

Our sponsorship program allows your business to support a specific event at the Festival. There are various sponsorship levels which offer varying levels of exposure. Some sponsorship levels include free advertising. More detailed information.

Next Sunday, as part of the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival Winterfest, we are pleased to offer a free keynote lecture entitled "The Cultural History of Natural Dyes" with Pat Brodowski. Mankind has desired colorful textiles for thousands of years. Color was highly valued and dye materials and techniques were often held secret. Pat shares the history from a European perspective: listen to the story of a secret 20 step formula for red – stolen by memorization; of the newest purple transported in the ballast of pirate ships; of the brilliant orange and magenta face paints taken by Spanish invaders, and of the young woman who created the indigo plantations of South Carolina. Find out which colors were common or royal, foraged or treasured. Your view of historic fashion will be changed forever. Pat's popular natural dyes workshops have been presented at Monticello, Montpelier, Common Ground on the Hill, and to local fiber arts groups. She is fascinated with the historic perspective on color in textiles and with all things botanical. Pat loves to share her knowledge of these things with others. This is a free virtual event.
