Auction of Handspun Handwoven Shawls

Once a year, sheep breeders, shearers, spinners and weavers from up and down the Mid-Atlantic region come together at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival to educate and entertain you with their skills in the Sheep-to-Shawl Competition. Up to five teams—consisting of one shearer, three spinners, and one weaver—will compete to shear a sheep, spin the fleece and weave it into a shawl, all in just a couple of hours. The end result is a special shawl that you can bid on to own for yourself or give to a special friend or family member. Come and share in the excitement of the competition starting at 10:00 a.m. Sunday in the Main Exhibition Annex to watch these unique garments develop right before your very eyes, then stick around and place your bid in the auction at 2:00 p.m.
